Happy Birthday Mom!

Fun Facts of why my mom is so great!

1. As a home room mom in school she would make hundreds of sugar cookies for us kids in all shapes and sizes for our parties.

2. As a home room mom she would make herself a costume for our parties and wear them to school. Then load us up and drive around town. My favorite- the clown outfit with the BIG blue wig.

3. When mom was a single parent she decided that every Thursday on payday she and I would treat ourselves to a dinner out. We always went to Don's Steakhouse and ordered the Chef salad!:)

4.When she worked full time she would get up early on her co-workers birthdays and make them a fresh birthday cake just for them.

5.One time mom tried to make bubble up bread and during the baking process lets just say that ovens are not supposed to have flames coming out of them!:) You should of seen the two of us trying to put that out!

6.One time when it was just mom and I living together we had a man try to get into our house and the two of us grabbed our weapons of choice to defend ourselves - She got a butter knife and I grabbed the can of pledge.

7.Moms favorite flower is the yellow rose.

8.Favorite colors are blue and yellow.

9.When I went to camp in the summer she would write me letters in the shapes of circles or she would write the letter then cut the paper into a puzzle that I had to put together to be able to read it.

10.She loves the Lord with her whole heart and is so thankful for her salvation.

Happy Birthday Mom! You have been such a wonderful mother to me!

1. I live on a small farm with 40 goats, 4 dogs (6 new puppies), 3 cats, 1 wonderful husband, 4 great kids, and I love it!

2. My favorite hobbies are sewing, scrap booking and cooking.

3. When I was around 13-15 every Friday night I would go to the local Roller Rink and Speed Skate. ( How old am I?)

4. Be still and know that I am God! - Being still doesn't come natural for me. I am so thankful that He is in control and not me!

5. I'm reading currently Calm my anxious heart. By Linda Dillow (HopiQ's mamma gave it to me) I have been really encouraged by it.

6. I have extremely poor writing skills. I call myself the queen of the run-0n sentence. :)

7. My dad is Jim. My brothers are Jimmy and Jason. My mom is Eunice. I am the second child in my family. But there are 4 years between Jimmy and I. And three between Jason and I. So we all grew up sorta like only children.

8. I had the privilege to see my grandparents celebrate over 50 years of marriage on both sides of the family.

9. My favorite new color is BLACK!

Everyone that I know on blog land has been tagged! Help!

Half-way around the world and back!

Recently Joel and I had an oppurtunity to go on a trip of a lifetime. We wen't to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It took us 20 hours of flying to get there! His company that he works for has a internation convention every three years and we were invited to go this time. On our way there we had an chance to see London. That was fun! We spent five days on the island enjoying the oceanview, the clear salt water, and the fun grownup time with people around the world.
The amazing thing is what a small world we truely live in. My first photo is of a man who grew up in Poland and the only time he ever left was to attend the University of Kansas in 1971-72! Now, what are the odds of flying halfway around the world and be seated next to him at dinner in Mauritius! He was as floored when I told him that that was were Joel attented college so the rest of the night was filled with " I don't belive it!"

Enjoy the pics!

The name of the resort was Paradis (without an e) and I see why they would call it that, but it is nice to know our true paradise is in heaven.

Love to you all, Jenn

And the winner is!

Every year since Joel was in college we would do a tournement bracket together. Well, now four kids later we all do it plus one of our elders in our church meeting. :) The winner gets to choose any icecream they want (any brand!). Man is that a treat! It's fun to have things like this with your kids. Grant, Amanda and Annika proudly wore their KU attire to school this morning with great pride! Go Hawks!

I can't belive I am a blogger!

I never thought I would see the day that I have a blog. I hope this blog will encourage your walk with the Lord and daily doings. Please be patient with me as I learn how to do this blogging thing and always remember that He should always have first place in all things.
Here is a current photo of our kids during our Orange Bowl party. No matter where we live we will always be Jayhawks at heart.
